BFSFCU COVID-19 Hiring & Onboarding FAQs
We are living in unprecedented times as the COVID-19 pandemic spreads globally. We are proceeding with an overabundance of caution to keep our staff and members safe. As part of that, we wanted to share the changes we have made to our recruiting, hiring and onboarding processes. - Q: How are you interviewing candidates currently?
A: As part of our commitment to health and safety for our members, staff and their families, we have temporally shifted interviews from in-person to virtual. A recruiter will review your application to determine potential next steps. If you are identified to move forward in the hiring process, you will be contacted to coordinate next steps.
- Q: Do you offer individuals with disabilities reasonable accommodations for the virtual interviewing process?

- Q: What can I expect after I receive an offer?
A: If you receive an offer letter, it will contain a start date and salary information. You will have the opportunity to review and accept the offer online, which is contingent upon a number of pre-employment steps including successful clearance of a background check and bondability verification. BFSFCU’s Human Resources team will work closely with you from recruitment to onboarding all the way through retirement and beyond.
- Q: What does the Onboarding process look like?
A: In order to complete the pre-employment screening such as I-9, employment verification documents and fingerprinting for the background check, you will need to physically come to the office between 9am-12pm on your start date. On this day, fingerprints will be captured, and our Information Technology department will set up you up with the proper technology, and system access. Every other aspect of the onboard process and job functions will be performed remotely thereafter.
- Q: What precautions are taken for employees whose positions are not remote eligible?
A: The vast majority of our staff are working fully remote. There are a small number of positions that have on site responsibilities. The reduced occupancy greatly helps in practicing social distancing, and reduces the risk of transmission of COVID-19. Our staff and members are required to wear a facial covering per the DC Mayor’s Order. We have also initiated expanded sanitation protocol which includes a cleaning crew sanitizing spaces with an emphasis on high traffic areas. We have also installed additional equipment such as Plexiglas barriers in areas where social distancing may not always be feasible. We do all of this in support of the health and safety of our staff, members and their family.
- Q: What if I have questions about benefits?
A: Our HR team will provide a benefits overview and access to our internal resources to help you navigate your benefits package. For additional questions, please reach out to your HR point of contact.
- Q: How long will I work remotely?
A: That is unknown at this time but we are regularly sharing updates with our staff to ensure that they are kept up to date.
