Hiring and Onboarding FAQS

Virtual interviewing has become the norm so most interviews will remain via phone or camera video appointment. However, some roles will require on site interviewing. A recruiter will review your application to determine potential next steps. If you are identified to move forward in the hiring process, you will be contacted to coordinate next steps.

During the recruiting process, HR searches for candidates who will be able to meet BFSFCU's service level goals by applying our Mission (serving the unique lifetime financial needs of our membership by delivering a superior member experience) and Vision (complete member satisfaction at every interaction) in every interaction with members and staff. This can be achieved by channeling the candidate's overall experience, but also through our comprehensive training program. Every staff member is responsible for fulfilling our Service PACT (Proactive, Accountable, Connected and Trustworthy) and living our values.

Candidates will be invited to disclose their desired salary on their application to any open position at BFSFCU. The compensation package is discussed by our HR team in the early stages of the recruiting process. We encourage applicants to ask about our total compensation and benefits package.

BFSFCU is proud of its commitment to supporting individuals from all backgrounds. If you are an applicant with a disability and require a reasonable accommodation with respect to any aspects of the hiring process, please send us a message here or call 202-212-6400 for TTY assistance. All requests for accommodations are kept confidential.

If you receive an offer letter, it will contain a start date and salary information. You will have the opportunity to review and accept the offer online, which is contingent upon a number of pre-employment steps including successful clearance of a background check, bondability verification, etc. BFSFCU's Human Resources team will work closely with you from recruitment to onboarding all the way through retirement and beyond.

In order to complete the pre-employment screening process such as I-9 and employment verification documents, new hires need to physically come to the office on their start date. Whenever possible, we also invite new hires to come onsite for fingerprinting, prior to their start date. On the first day of New Employee Orientation, our Information Technology department will provide proper technology, equipment, and system access. Other aspects of the onboard process and job functions may be performed in a hybrid environment with a combination of onsite and remote schedule, depending on the department's current need.

New hires and staff members are not required to be vaccinated against COVID-19. Masks are recommended in common areas for unvaccinated staff and for staff with increased risk factors. It is important to remain vigilant against the spread of illnesses and to keep everyone safe by washing your hands and wearing a mask when needed or asked.
